Monday 13th November, 2006 – 6.30pm – Free Entry

According to a new report from Informa Telecoms and Media and strategic partner, the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), the global market for mobile communities and user generated content will be worth US$13.1 billion by 2011, with photo and chat based services being the top revenue generators,
The same report indicates that chat services currently represent the largest segment of the market. However, as increasing numbers of photo and video enabled devices enter the market, the volume of users uploading images or clips is expected to grow significantly. In 2006, 46 million users are expected to submit video clips to services such as SeeMeTV or YouTube from their mobile phone, rising to 198 million by 2011.
Mere months ago, mobile user-generated content barely existed. But on Monday night we will be joined by several companies, both on stage and in the audience, that are making a run at China’s millions of amateur mobile-videographers, bloggers and IM’ers.
With dozens of start-up companies, as well as the major Internet players like portals and blog platforms, all aiming to develop this young market, what is the current status and where is the industry headed?

Our speakers and guests will engage in a lively debate about the value of user-generated content from a mobile perspective. Everyone wants to know what will drive this dynamic and unpredictable new market.

Please bring the questions that are nagging you, and be prepared to challenge our speakers – these are just a few of the critical issues we will cover:

The mobile version of user-generated content has completely different usability issues (and therefore different usage drivers) from its Internet cousin. How does this affect development and marketing of applications?
Who is responsible for regulating or controlling the content that users submit? And who really owns the content that is contributed? How will service providers address this challenge?
What is driving content generation, so far, and what will be the key drivers in the future?
Are advertising-supported business models applicable to mobile UGC platforms? How will this work?
Be a part of a new community of like-minded mobile aficionados – join us at MobileMonday!
