First of all, the Shanghai MobileMonday team would like to wish you an excellent New Year 2007 and year of the Pig (in advance)!
Shanghai MobileMonday is also proud to announce it has assembled a prestigious advisory board (Richard Robinson, CEO of Dada Asia, Nick Zhang, CEO of Mobile2Win, Tan Yinglan, Director for China, 3i Venturelab, INSEAD and Mark Natkin, founder and managing director of Marbridge Consulting) who will help us shape MobileMonday’s direction in Shanghai for 2007.
We have an exciting program for 2007, starting with one of the hottest topics to date in China (and elsewhere): Mobile TV – will broadcast on our phones live up to its promises? Will content-on-demand and pre-recorded programs formatted for our gizmos replace live broadcast as the preferred new media? What new business models will we see emerge and how is the advertising industry responding to this new opportunity? Will mobile TV enable the emergence and growth of other mobile value-added services? Etc. No less than 5 speakers will address this issue with us, all from a different perspective:
• Thierry A. Raymaekers (Keynote), Managing Director, Asia-Pacific Marketing Irdeto, will give us a broad vision of this nascent market, help us clarify what standards are being fought for in China and how the ecosystem is building up.
• Jan Henrik Pratje, General Manager of 1MP, a content aggregator for IPTV and Mobile TV services in China, will help us understand the requirements for mobile TV content providers and what business model will emerge successfully in China.
• Johann Le Roux, technical pioneer and training expert in the television industry for the MIH Group, will talk about the caveats and technical issues mobile TV implementations usually go trough.
• Angela Chan, Managing Director, I-Vision, a VC-funded Beijing firm currently building a mobile TV operation in China, will walk us through her project, expected business model and which standard could emerge in China.
• David Schapira, Sales Director Asia for Expway, a leader in Electronic Service Guide (ESG) solutions, will share with us Expway’s experience launching DVB-H with Italian mobile operators in 2006 and how ESG is, according to Expway, at the heart of Mobile TV successful implementations.
Event starts at 6.30pm on January 15, 2007, and is FREE. Online registration is mandatory. Please register below. We will start presentations around 6.50 pm, since we have a heavy and exciting program ahead of us for the evening. For those unable to register online, please send your registration email to
