Speaker Biographies
Charles Yu is Vice President of NAVTEQ. He is responsible for Greater China Sales and Business Development. He works closely with customers and partners in wireless, auto, internet and enterprises. Charles has extensive experiences in wireless internet and software industry. Prior to NAVTEQ, Charles held key positions at hiSoft as Director of Business Development and at SiRF as Director of Ecosystem. Charles also played key roles in early development of mobile internet platform Java, BREW, etc. He led various sales, product management, business development and market development activities at Qualcomm and Sun Microsystems. Charles started his career in Motorola as a Senior Software Engineer.
Charles holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Physics from Albright College. He is currently in Wharton Executive MBA program (on leave while in China). Charles is based in Shanghai.

Partner Event: Shanghai Barcamp

For the 9th time in Shanghai, the tech community will unite for BarCamp, the famously dubbed “un-conference” where anyone, from a first year student to a renowned entrepreneur, with a deep passion for technology is given a stage to share their ideas with like-minded techies. Hosted by TechYizu, a Shanghai-based volunteer group which helps support and organize events for China’s tech community

Born out of reaction to formal, exclusive and boring tech conferences, BarCamp was originally created by techies in Silicon Valley and has now spread to more than 350 cities worldwide. Its ethos is simple but powerful- offer a completely open forum for sharing the latest ideas in technology. This “un-conference” will have no overriding theme, pre-organized activities or limitations on who has the chance to speak. Attendees can expect everything- from the brilliant to bizarre- to be shared during the day.

3 Day Startup (3DS) is an entrepreneurship education program designed for university students with an emphasis on learning by doing.

The 3DS program creates a living entrepreneurship laboratory on university campuses by bringing together students ranging from freshmen to freshly-minted PhDs, with diverse backgrounds, including computer science, business, engineering, law, design, communications and others.
